Barbara Budan- painter
Barbara enjoys working with loose details in her still life and landscape paintings while incorporating various plants, flowers, and pieces of nature through an impressionistic touch and style. “My passion has always been to see and appreciate color and form everywhere. My discovery of the joy of paining with oils offers a beautiful flow of colors and blending that has given me a new prospective and appreciation of art.”
Scott Bunn – wood and metal artisan
Marty Bynum – Jewelry and Clay
To me, art is a window onto something that is sometimes beautiful, often mysterious, and always interesting to think about. As a child I began loving art with my box of crayons, the more colors the better! As I learned to draw in school I became fascinated with shapes made from curves and squiggles. Eventually I dabbled in oil paints, photography, and clay. My curiosity has led me through abstraction, photorealism, and utilitarian work. After years of a “real job,” I now have the freedom to explore my imagination that was opened up many years ago.
My influences are humor (not taking my work, or myself, too seriously) and mystery (the beauty of a glass bead or the awe of opening the kiln to see what the heat has done to the clay or glaze). I’m fascinated by unexpected color combinations, or combined textures such as something rough with something slick and shiny. Movement is important in my jewelry work. When a woman moves her head, some part of her earrings or necklace will sparkle and/or move with her. The potential for exploration of these things is limitless. Crossover is also a VERY important part of the creative process for me because one discipline always informs and expands another.
Eleanor Castle – watercolor artist

Eleanor specializes in producing sharp-edged watercolor paintings. Her works are very refined, some of which can be described as true architectural. Combinations of light and shadow highlight shapes and dimensions within the paintings, creating feelings that are sometimes joyful and other times forlorn. Subjects range from bright cityscapes to dilapitated buildings that were once important. The creative interplay of design, color, light, and exquisite brushwork define her style and make the artist’s works truly unique among watercolor paintings.
Carol Clarkson – potter

Carol Clarkson became a studio potter after a twenty year career as a teacher of the hearing impaired. Her joy of clay began as a collector followed by immersion studies at Penland School of Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk School, Laloba Ranch, Shakerag Workshops, Odyssey Center, and Clemson University. Carol views ceramic arts as a forever learning process. New techniques, forms, glazes, and kiln firings present learning challenges and continued growth as an artist. Her stoneware pottery pieces are carved and altered; then fired in a reduction, gas kiln. Time spent between South Carolina and Montana allows for exposure to a diverse landscape that inspires the colors used in her glazes.
