The following classes will be offered Saturday, October 14 at The Arts Center

Morning Classes

Comics

Comics are sometimes described as “sequential art,” though some are only one panel. So what is a comic, exactly? It’s a visual story told however you would like to tell it. In this workshop, you will create your own comics and go through the process of earning your badge. Individually registered girls must attend with an adult.

Textile Arts

When you see all the colors and textures of fabrics and yarns, do you dream up a million things to do with them? Get ready to turn those visions into reality as you take this workshop and learn about the world of textile arts, and make two projects in the craft that most inspires you to pick up your needles (or loom or spinning wheel). Individually registered girls must attend with an adult.

Photographer

It seems like almost every gadget can take a digital photograph, from phones to laptops to, of course, digital cameras. But do you know how to get the most out of your digital device, and what it takes to capture a winning photo? Take this workshop and learn the basics. Individually registered girls must attend with an adult.

Pottery 2

Did you enjoy the pottery class in September and want to take your pots that you made to another level? In this class you will learn how to trim and glaze your work that has been bisque fired. MUST HAVE ATTENDED POTTERY 1. Individually registered girls must attend with an adult.

The Science of Happiness

In this badge, you are the test subject, and your life is your laboratory. You’ll find out how scientists measure happiness, and you’ll put their results into action. You’ll also get to perform a happiness experiment on your friends or family—all with the goal of making your world a happier place. Individually registered girls must attend with an adult.

Jewelry

Want more sparkle in your life? Try making jewelry! It’s easy and inexpensive to make. You can create it for yourself or give to a friend. Try this badge, and you’ll have something wonderful to wear in no time. Individually registered girls must attend with an adult.

Painting

Artists take what they see and make it beautiful. Learn to paint and color your world in super strokes while earning your painting badge under the supervision of professional art educators! Individually registered girls must attend with an adult.

Clay 2

Did you enjoy creating a pot on the wheel back in September? In this second part of the Clay workshop, you will learn to paint with glaze to create designs on your bisque work. Make a great present or keepsake! MUST HAVE ATTENDED CLAY 1 AND BRING YOUR PROJECT. Individually registered girls must attend with an adult.
