Holly Hannon

holly

Holly graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design in 1985 and has worked as a professional illustrator for twenty eighty years illustrating over 25 children’s books for clients including Scholastic, Random House, and Disney.
In addition to illustration, she teaches art classes in a variety of subjects for adults and children in the areas surrounding her
home of Seneca, SC.
She is a long-term member of the South Carolina Art’s Commission and teaches residencies and programs in schools throughout South Carolina.

Among the publishers, teachers and students who request her, she is known for attention to detail and a passion for color and technique. In addition to programming all classes in the Painting Studio, Holly is in charge of children and youth programming, as well.

Saturdays, August 19-September 9  10am-1pm
Learn the principles of composition, shading, perspective, line and the basics of “how to draw” anything.  A must for those interested in furthering their artistic skills including their paintings. All supplies included.  For ages 14 and older

Pastels with Olga Reukova
Fridays, September- December 6-9pm
Join artist Olga Reukova for an evening of pastel painting.
  Olga will lead you through the completion of a beautiful art piece.  Bring a friend and you favorite beverage for an enjoyable, relaxing evening of painting. Come for one or all classes!

Soft pastels versatility allows quick sketches and to paint with an impressionist feel creating charcoal like drawings or oil painting complexity.
  Join our pastel course and learn how to draw still life, landscapes and architectural elements with soft pastels.

Watercolor with Light and Color with Holly Hannon
Tuesdays, September 5-26 10am-1pm
Experience the fun of painting with watercolors by learning how to use them while painting subjects of your choosing.
  Application, mixing of colors, the use of light and shadow and a thorough understanding of the materials are just a few of the highlights of this popular class. For beginning and intermediate painters ages 14+.

Game Of Thrones fans, you will create a  mixed media work of art depicting The Heart Tree located in Godswood. We will utilize acrylic paint, paper and eggshells to make this unique 16X20” canvas come alive. By working in layers the tree texture emerges like magic and taking it step by step makes it easy to create this piece of art.

Classic Oil Painting with Holly Hannon
Mondays, October 2-30 6-9pm
Explore the basics of oil painting and its many ways of application to create a painting in a subject matter of your choice.
  We will use drying agents to enable glazing and also work in a direct, painterly method.   For beginning and intermediate painters ages 14+

Step by step understanding of how-to-draw anything is covered while learning about shading, line, value, movement and emotion.

Japanese Papers & Techniques Workshop with Christina Laurel
Saturday, October 21 10am-2pm
An introduction to Japanese papers, including Shoji paper ( Konnyaku starch makes the paper fabric-like) and Suminagashi-Japanese ink marbling.  Demonstrations and hands-on exploration.  Wear an apron or painting shirt and bring a lunch.

Mondays, December 4-18 6-9pm
Study proportion, head types, structure, anatomy, facial features, aging and movement while learning to draw the human head artistically. For beginning and intermediate students ages 14+

Printmaking Exploration with Caron Stansell
Tuesdays & Thursdays, December 5-14 6-9pm
This class will use a large printing press to create varied prints from subjects you choose and create.
  The different ways to print, specialty papers, inks, printmaking blocks will all be explored.  A very special class!  For beginning and intermediate students ages 14+
