Art Beat
A program of educational, fine art and movement workshops specifically designed for seniors of all ages. Classes are offered in retirement facilities across the Upstate and at The Arts Center in Clemson.
Our Artbeat program is committed to keeping education in art, exploration and wellbeing alive! Artbeat is designed to bring those that are over fifty together into an exciting fine art environment with a class schedule that is designed to accommodate busy lifestyles. A place where new friends are made and opportunities are available to learn from each other while sharing life experiences and focusing on a new and common interest.
Those of you that are retired or part of the 50 + population here in our area are very active and have a diverse range of activities and interests. We at The Arts Center hope to play a key role in providing you with an appealing and challenging selection of classes and workshops from which to choose. Our diverse groups of instructors are enthusiastically waiting to share their skills with you. Together we can keep the beat strong at Artbeat.
How we started this exciting program:
THE ARTS CENTER IN CLEMSON RECEIVES GRANT FROM S.C. ARTS COMMISSION
Clemson, S.C. – The Arts Center in Clemson has been awarded a $9,990 grant by the South Carolina Arts Commission for the 2010 fiscal year. The support will allow the organization to begin a new program titled “ArtBeat”. The “ArtBeat” program consists of classes and workshops designed for those over 50. Classes are taught by a diverse group of professional instructors and are formatted to encourage learning as well as social interaction. The first class session begins May 11th with classes such as “Introduction to bookbinding” and “Reading the Carolinas” a literary journey of discovery through the Carolinas.
“The S.C. Arts Commission grant will enable The Arts Center to offer the ArtBeat program in an exciting fine art environment with a class schedule to accommodate the busy lifestyles of those over 50.” said Arts Center Executive Director Deborah Pagano. “This funding helps us achieve our mission of making arts accessible to all members of the community.”
Contributions from individuals and area companies are helping The Arts Center meet its obligation of matching the Arts Commission grant with local dollars.
Local residents can see how the Arts Commission grant and local funds are benefiting The Arts Center and to pick up an ArtBeat brochure by visiting us at 212 Butler Street in Clemson.
