METALS/JEWELRY STUDIO

This studio is equipped with everything you need to make beautiful jewelry. We have all the tools to create sterling silver or copper bracelets, earrings and pendants by soldering, sawing, piercing and folding. We have currently expanded our class offerings to include enameling.

 

Pre-registration is required three days before the start of class or workshop.
You are not registered unless paid in full.

 Material fees are included in the tuition pricing.

METALS/JEWELRY OPEN STUDIO

A Monitored Open Studio is offered each Wednesday from 2 pm until 6 pm for experienced artists to work on their projects and use the studio tools and equipment.

Cost is $35 per month and is not prorated.  Registration and payment is required in advance.

ARTISTS REGISTER HERE 

Students currently enrolled in a Metals/Jewelry class who want additional time to work on their projects may attend Open Studio free of charge but must register in advance.

BEGINNER - Santa's Workshop with Beth Gautsch

Tuesday & Thursday, December 11 & 13

6 pm - 9 pm

In this workshop you will make at least 2 pairs of earrings to give as a unique, handcrafted holiday gift for someone special. Or you just might want to keep one pair for yourself! No experience required. Good eyesight or magnification is necessary for this class. Please wear closed toe shoes.

BEGINNER - Torch Enameled Jewelry Fun with Trish Stalb

Sunday, January 13

2 pm - 5 pm

Spend three fun-filled hours learning the basics of torch enameling glass onto copper shapes. You'll complete several enameled pendants to take home! Please wear closed toe shoes and long pants to this class.

BEGINNER - Get Loopy with Chain with Beth Gautsch

Tuesday & Thursday, January 15 & 17

6 pm - 9 pm

Learn to make your own chain from sterling sliver wire to use in bracelets, necklaces or earrings. In this class you will learn how to form and solder round wire to create different chain shapes and sizes. You will make enough sterling silver chain to create your own bracelet or simple open chain necklace. Please wear closed toe shoes and long pants. Bring eye magnification if needed to see close detail.

INTERMEDIATE - Sterling Silver Ring with Bezel Set Stone with Trish Stalb

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6 pm – 9 pm

February 5, 7, 12 and 14

During this four-evening class you’ll learn to design and fabricate a simple sterling silver ring and set your ring with a stone in a bezel. You’ll use files, hammers, a jeweler’s saw, and an acetylene torch and take home a completed ring! Intermediate level requiring a general understanding of tools and hand work. Manual dexterity and good eyesight or magnification are needed for this class. Please wear closed toe shoes and long pants.

BEGINNER - Non-Solder Cuff Bracelet Workshop with Beth Gautsch

10 am - 4:30 pm

In this one -day workshop you'll create a special, easy to wear, copper cuff that has the closure element incorporated into the design. You will learn to texture metal and use a jeweler’s saw. No soldering is required. Please wear closed toe shoes and long pants. Bring eye magnification if needed to see close detail. Bring a brown-bag lunch.

BEGINNER - Ear Wire Workshop with Beth Gautsch

In this workshop, you will learn to hand craft several different types of ear wires using pliers and other shaping tools. Starting with copper and then graduating to using sterling silver wire, you’ll create several finished pairs of ear wires to complement your unique earring design. You’ll never need to buy manufactured ear wires again! Please wear closed toe shoes and long pants. Bring eye magnification if needed to see close detail. Bring a brown bag lunch.

BEGINNER - Experimental Aluminum Cuff Bracelet with Trish Stalb

Spend a fun and productive afternoon learning how to use aluminum sheet and wire to form a one-of-a-kind cuff bracelet. Techniques covered will include anticlastic forming, riveting, surface design, and applying a patina to the metal. Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants to this class.

BEGINNER - Introduction to Enameling in a Kiln with Trish Stalb

This introductory class will cover the basics of firing glass enamels onto a copper surface using a kiln. Each student will create several small colorful enameled pieces. Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants to this class.

BEGINNER - Multi Element Bracelet Class with Beth Gautsch

Tuesdays & Thursdays, April 30 - May 16

6 pm - 9 pm

Join us for a three week course in the basics of jewelry fabrication from stone setting to soldering and beyond! Practicing weekly is the best way to build skills that will last. During six bi-weekly classes you will learn different skills, focusing on the basics of fabrication that includes sawing, filing and sanding, hammering and texturing, soldering, sweat soldering, riveting, and stone setting. You’ll make 5 to 6 different elements to create unique multi-element bracelets. Please wear closed toe shoes and long pants. Bring eye magnification if needed to see close detail.
