Exploring Collographs: Creating Images from Texture with Wendy Converse
Thursdays - October 4, 11, 18, 25
6:30 – 9:30 pm

It’s printmaking with a twist. Before we get to the printing, we have to do some sculpting. A Collographs is a textured printing plate created using acrylic mediums, fabrics, and found objects to create rich surfaces. In the first class, you’ll create 2‐ 3 Collographs plates. Then we’ll spend the remaining sessions exploring the printing process. You’ll ink and print your plates on the studio etching press using dampened paper to allow for dramatic embossing. We’ll also try out the use of chine‐collé and stencils to create similar, but varying, takes on the same theme. If this sounds interesting, but a little confusing, not to worry! No prior printmaking experience needed. All skill levels welcome.

Ink. Print. Repeat. – An Introduction to Monoprinting with Wendy Converse
Thursdays - November 1, 8, 15, 29 (No class November 22)
6:30 – 9:30 pm

Monoprinting is simple printmaking process with endless possibilities. Images are created by
rolling out ink onto a flat surface (plate) and then marking into the ink using any number of
tools. Prints are made by the direct transfer of the image from the plate to paper using the
etching press. Each print is unique and allows for a spontaneous and expressive nature in the
finished work. Each session will begin with a demonstration and group print using a different
monoprinting technique. Then, you’ll be free to experiment with your own images and
ideas. No experience needed!
