Printmaking is an amazing way to create your art using a unique process. In this course, we will focus on a Linocut. This is a type of printing involving carving a drawing into a soft Linoleum block and printing the image on paper. In this class we will learn the fundamentals of carving, positive and negative space and using lines to define contour and value. We will also experiment with other mediums with our prints such a watercolor and collage. This class is for students 18 and older.
March 1, 8, 15, and 22: Tuesdays from 6-8 pm
This class will expand on printmaking by using different printmaking processes. In this class, you will be introduced to etching and dry point. Etching is the process where lines/ marks are removed from a substrate through the a chemical submersion. The areas of your image that you don't want to remove would be covered in a protective material. The dry point process is where your image would be scratched into a plate using a sharp instrument. Other processes to be discussed are: collagraph, monoprint, embossing, and many more.
