YOUTH ART CLASSES

Our focus is primarily to help children build a strong relationship between themselves and the studio space by establishing an art practice. Teachers routinely bring in new mediums and new techniques to share with students, however teachers also pay close attention to the artistic choices that a student makes, acknowledge their creative process, and speak to them about their art practice to both enrich and challenge their work.

Materials fees are included in the tuition pricing.  You do not need to bring any materials.

Pre-registration is required a week before the start of class or workshop.  You are not registered unless paid in full.

AFTERNOON YOUTH CLASSES

Paper Collages
with Erin Thompson
Ages: Middle School
This class will teach design and composition skills. Students will be given various prompts to create collages using materials such as magazines, newspapers, photos, books, and colored papers. Students will cut and paste materials onto a board and create compositions based on the prompts. Students are welcome to bring their own materials to cut and use in collages, but materials will be provided. Erin Thompson, the teacher of this course, will encourage creativity while leading the students to choose design compositions and colors to create the aesthetic of their choice. This class is a beginner-level course- no prior artistic skills or talents necessary! Collaging is a great way for anyone to practice creativity; the skills learned in this class can be applied to many other artistic practices!
