HOMESCHOOL CLASSES

Add an art elective to your child's home education! Taught by a professional artist, these classes are specifically crafted to enrich a homeschoolers education. They will learn about artists and create their own masterpieces along-side their peers in these sessions offered during the day.

Materials fees are included in the tuition pricing.  You do not need to bring any materials.

Pre-registration is required three days before the start of class or workshop.  You are not registered unless paid in full.

Art for Kindergarten - 2nd  Grades with Judy Barnhart

Let your child's natural love of art explore new and exciting ways to express themselves! We will include items we find in nature, recycled materials, and a variety of art supplies to create fun, whimsical works of art.

Art for 1st - 3rd Grades with Krissi Williams

Students will explore a different art medium each class using everything from acrylic paint to collage. We will spend time discussing each medium and then students can create a work of their own choosing using this medium. This class is about exploring and creating in an self-directed manner.

Art for 4th - 6th Grades with Catherine Gurri

Home school art history program- a series of classes that will combine historical and practical understanding of art.  We will discuss various artistic movements based on a unit theme and then create art to further understand what we learn.

September - Ancient Art

From cave paintings to classical frescos, we will examine the art of the ancient world along with its religions, culture and other motivating factors.

October - Impressionism and Post impressionism: A Dawn of a New Era.

At the end of the 19th century, art changed dramatically.  We will discuss the reasons for this change as well as try out the styles of several different painters from this era. This unit will be primarily about painting.

November: Folk-Art

Take an artistic journey around the world looking at various traditions that usually don't get a place in text books. We will look at different styles of painting, textiles, mask making and more, while taking time to create a greater culture understanding and becoming more aware global citizens.

December: Contemporary Art

Learn about artists from 1950 to the present.  See what happens as the rules of the past get thrown away for good and people rethink and reimagine the definition of art itself.

Art for 7th - 9th Grades with Penny Henthorne

Student will be encouraged to express their creativity and expand their talents. Students will learn basic art concepts and principles using mixed-media techniques.
